Technicalities of my knitting life

So I’ve got to pick up the stitches around the collar and sides for Little One’s jacket. It’s knit club tonight thank God so if I screw it up I can get expert help. I quite often fail on technicalities mainly because I’m so impatient. But this time I’m following my knitting bible Vogue Knitting. I got this cheapy cheap in a bargain book shop in Cambridge a year or so ago and it’s got articles on everything – brilliant. Here’s the cover…

It recommended marking off  every 2″ or so so that you can ‘pace’ yourself when picking up stitches. So I’ve got to do about 10 stitches per 2″ section. Here’s my marking…

and now I’m picking up about 160 odd stitches, using my stitch markers to make counting easier. WIsh me luck…

Oh, and I scaled and defeated Mount Ironing btw – yes!!
